Work With Me

It’s easy to put off a project as big and daunting as your own death. I get it. Hey, I did it myself! Let me share my life experience and education to help you break it down into more manageable bits by coaching you through some things you may not have thought of and perhaps some considerations you didn’t even know existed. This is not an exhaustive list but rather an idea of the work I do most often. Everybody’s needs are different and I am here for you.

Advance Care Planning

I can support you with advance care planning by exploring your end of life and/or chronic illness options to ensure your final wishes are aligned with your core values and deepest desires. This can be done as you navigate a terminal illness, at diagnosis, or at any point after you reach the age of majority. The earlier you consider and make these decisions - yes, even before they’re needed - the easier you may find the work.

The Hard Conversations

With my background education and experience in conflict resolution, mediation, and facilitation, I can assist you in shaping and sharing the tough conversations; I can even be there for them, if that would be helpful. Bottom line: you need to speak to your people and share your wishes with them.

Active Dying Support

As a doula, I am called upon be present when you or your loved one are actively dying. It is hard for those who love you to do it all, and clients find that having a doula to support them allows for friends and family to focus on their person, while I assist with practical, emotional, and often spiritual supports. I’ve got you, and I’ll hold your hand throughout.

A Note on Scope

Equally as important as what I do, is what I do not do or, more specifically, what I am not. I am not a doctor, nurse, or any other type of medical professional. I am not a lawyer, notary, or someone with legal training. I am not a priest, minister, rabbi, shaman, or any other formally trained or ordained spiritual guide. Please, always consult your trusted professionals before making decisions or completing legally binding documentation.

End of life doulas in Canada are not (yet) covered under most benefit plans. As such, we are hired privately and bill you directly. I can either bill you at an hourly rate as we go, and for assistance in any of the areas mentioned above, or you can prepay for a set number of hours in advance at a discounted rate. I also offer packages, designed to assist with a specific outcome, like an advance care plan which is completed in a defined timeframe. I offer a free 15-minute consultation to explore your curiosities and needs.
